Raise the Minimum Wage? People Say They'll Stop Tipping. In reviewing current events, one of the biggest stories coming out from a newspaper in Seattle Washington, is people saying that they will stop tipping there servers in a sit down restaurant. The food industry, as well as many other industry in Seattle, consider having the min wage rate frozen. You see, Seattle has the highest min do wage in America. Min do workers get just over $15 in hour. They are upset about there standing of living, because President Obama, wants congress to raise the min do to $10.10 an hour. The problem is, that citizens in Seattle and all over America, are saying that by raising the min do, will hurt people in some industries, because employers would have to pay there workers more, which puts a dent in wage earning. It's not that the min do wage would increase, that bothers them, but by having certain rules that are in place, would change because the min do is being raised. Normally where a server would receive a tip for their work, employers are trying to advise their workers, that either the job description would change, or they would post a sign on their doors, that the tipping policy is changing, and a tip is not required any more for the workers, as good service is part of their job description for the business. Workers are upset, as well as being happy, that wages will increase. In efforts in trying to have society except the min do wage increase, people need to understand, that the main reason the min do wages are increasing, is because all products across the board in all industries, are costing more. And having a set wage, will protect workers on having a required income. The reasoning behind that further, states in the food industry, tips are not guaranteed, and the wage per hour, would benefit the workers, because it would force employers as a requirement to raise salaries. In the end, I believe it is the right thing to do, so between higher wages, and costs for products, will allow people to have some leverage. This is good people, because the min do wage increase will help people, despite the yelling from employers, because they would require them to raise salaries, or be fined, and also, if employers do not except the law to increase wages, their business also could be closed .
