Earning Money Writing for Seekyt.com

Seekyt is another great writing platform for aspiring writers. It has similarities to Examiner and other sites that pay based upon page views, but it is quite different in how the money is earned.

Instead of paying a percent of a penny for each page view, Seekyt pays their writers a percentage of ad revenues. However, as page views translate into purchases, there is a direct correlation between page views and earnings.

Seekyt requires original articles of around 250-300 words with the more words the better. Longer articles tend to get more search traffic, which translates into more revenue for the writers.

Seekyt accepts writers from other countrie, but the only way a writer can earn is by incorporating one or all the following ad types into their articles: Google AdSense, VigLink, and/or Chikita. Writers are actually paid by the advertisers, not by Seekyt, so if you can get one of these accounts, you can earn money on Seekyt, no matter where you live.

Seekyt is looking for quality unique articles. Articles cannot be copied, reposted or translated. The BEST kinds of articles to write for Seekyt are product reviews or articles like "how-tos" and "top-tens" that mention specific types of products that can be linked to and sold from your articles.

I like Seekyt because it isn't solely locked into page views. It is a way of diversifying my earnings. I think if it as a safety net, and I have earned well there, especially when I was writing articles regularly each month.

I relied heavily on Goodle AdSense, and then my browser had problems with the AdSense site for many months when I tried to log in. I temporarily stopped writing for Seekyt during that time because I could not check my earnings or get paid. Now I have a bunch of articles already written I am about to upload since I can finally get into AdSense (at least some of the time) again. However, I have been spending all my extra time on PWG and not on Seekyt this week, so I will have to change direction a little to get all those new Seekyt reviews published!

By the way, if you ever see anything you are interested in buying from Amazon on one of my articles, please click on the link to buy it. It won't cost you any more, but I will earn a percentage of the sale.

This is my Seekyt referral link if you want to use it. Be sure and follow me if you sign up. Seekyt also pays bonuses for followers, comments and other activity on the site. Can you see why I like it?

Why Professional Writers Write for Pennies: A History of Recent Journalism Trends

Do professional writers REALLY write for pennies??? Why, yes. Yes we do. We just earn a lot more pennies than those who don't strive to be professional in their writing.

The trick to writing successfully for the web is to BE PROFESSIONAL.

It all started back in the days when print was king. Many of us could earn on average $450 per article writing for major publications in the 1990s. Some writers earned more--much more. Of course, we had to write 1,000 words or more to earn our lofty fee, as well as sometimes produce or pay for professional images, but it was well worth the time and effort.

Then the internet took the world by storm, followed by iPads and smart phones. Large newspapers and magazines--some of which had been around for 150 years or more--began to go out of business.

In addition to writing for several local newspapers and national magazines, I published a local monthly magazine for gospel music in Nashville from 1992 to 2008. I held on as long as I could, but eventually the print version went out of business. It just could not compete with instant news at your fingertips. The web version celebrated 20 years in 2012, and I do earn some pennies from Google ads and Amazon writing for myself, but I learned I could earn more pennies writing for other sites as well.

During the two years proceeding my own paper's demise, all TEN of the publications which I wrote for on a regular business went out of business, so suddenly, there were a ton of very professional writers on the market: writers, editors and publishers competing for fewer and fewer remaining jobs in print. Some went into other businesses. Some lost everything. And some of us learned how to successfully write for pennies. Pennies turn into dollars, you know.

I don't earn as much as I did when I was paid $450 an article... on second thought, sometimes I do. Some months I only published two or three print articles, and some months I have earned over $1000 writing for the web part-time. As mentioned in a previous post, I have been especially successful earning money writing for Examiner.com.

There are definite pluses to writing for the internet. For one thing, it is easier to write for the web. Internet articles usually only have to be 150 to 400 words long as opposed to 1,000 or more for print. For another, writing for several sites I now have my pick of topics and am not locked in to the specific columns I had to write before.  In addition, I have chosen to write for sites where I earn residuals as long as I keep writing or checking in, so I am still earning those pennies on all the articles I have written for the web.

The trick to writing successfully for the web is to BE PROFESSIONAL and write about things that will interest more than just your close circle of friends. No one but your mother wants to read what you had for breakfast or how your toaster is working. Sure you can do that on your personal blog if you want, but you won't attract readers beyond your friends that way. If your friends give you enough page views to live on reading what your toaster is doing, more power to you!

You don't have to have an extensive background in journalism to be successful, but it helps to follow basic standards of quality so you can build your brand and your readership.

Here are a few articles that may help.

Converting Analog Television to Digital TV Still Not Working For Millions of Americans

75_604799.jpg
I'm one of the millions of Americans who are without television as the converter boxes don't work on my old TV set. I havewasted hours and days of my life since February2009  trying to make the digital converter box work and nothing works. You can read the full article at "Converting Analog Televisions to Digital TV Not as Easy as Promised"

After going through the same frustrations, many Americans have been forced to buy new digital TVs. I bought mine at Walmart for $168. A friend did the same and she had to return her TV, because even with the new TV, she still can't pull in a regular, reliable signal -- $200 wasted on a new TV that won't pull in a digital signal. I still have my digital television, but it doesn't work 50% of the time, and when it does work, I get one channel. I used to get FOUR channels on my old TV before the government stepped in.

Magnavox DTV Digital to Analog Converter Box # TB1110MW9 and Other Converter Boxes Do Not Work on My Television

I don't watch a lot of television, but I do depend on my TV during tornadoes or other crisis, so I have tried and tried to make this work. If I hold the converter box just right, occasionally I can pull in a pixilated black and white picture with no sound but a hiss. The picture lasts a few seconds before it disintegrates and then it is gone. Usually I cannot pull it in again for several hours or several days.  The FCC and their partners in crime -- Congress -- have really shafted those of us in the lower income brackets and put us in harm's way because we can't get the weather maps or other alerts provided by local television stations.

The early commercials on both TV and web promised an easy conversion using the box, so we all just let this happen. After all, if the government tells us it's going to be easy, well, enough said, right??? Many of you won't care, because you have satellite or cable or budgets that will allow you to purchase new TVs and outdoor antennas -- luxuries the unemployed cannot afford. But this should served as a wakeup call as to how the U.S. government can make a decision, promise citizens it will be easy, and then leave a great deal of its people in much worse state than they were before.

Five years later and I still can't watch TV. I could BUY an expensive roof antenna and hope it pulls in a better signal, or BUY a cable or satellite provider, but I didn't have to do this before. Thanks, US Government and FCC for driving the monthly costs up for millions of Americans...again...

Other Ways for Writers to Make Money in their Extra Time

Government image in public domain

So you're a writer! If I was a betting woman, I would bet most writers do other things to earn money, from eBay to promotions to other jobs. A few years ago I realized that the days of making BIG bucks writing were pretty much over for me. My best month writing across all my sites together has only netted me a little over $1,000--hardly an income I can thrive on.

I LOVE to write and will keep looking at new things like PWG hoping to find that magic mixture of work, writing, promotion, networking and sites that do a lot of the work, too. But in 2010, I started looking into other avenues, including franchises and business partnerships.

Franchises: With hard work and determination, owning a franchise can bring in a LOT of money, so this idea had a lot of appeal. However, franchises cost a great deal of money, with the LOWEST ones in the $20,000 range and average buying prices in the hundreds of thousands.

Schemes: Then there are the "make big money quick doing nothing" ads all over the internet that usually don't pan out and don't live up to their promises.

Direct Marketing: That's why many people end up turning to direct marketing which can have all the advantages of a franchise, or all the disappointments of a "get rich quick" scheme. So how do you find the right direct marketing business?
  • Look for one with a track record of success. Companies like Amway, Mary Kay and even Avon have been around for a long time. These companies have proven they are not a scheme that will take your money and leave you standing on the street corner selling pencils.
  • Look for companies that belong to the Direct Selling Association. This organization insists on the highest ethics and training in its member businesses.
  • Look for a great product line. Is it something you and your friends would use? Would you use it in ten years?
  • Look for companies that are already solvent. A new business, no matter how great the idea sounds, has a high chance of bankruptcy.
  • Look for a company in a booming industry, that is ahead of the trends, that will meet a need no matter how good or bad the economy gets.

Did I find a business I like that has earned me a more-than-decent monthly income working part-time hours from home? Yes, yes I did. In 2010, I chose an anti-aging skin care business because as the baby-boomer generation continues to age, as well as younger generations, our skin will continue to age with us. We all want to look our best. We all want healthy skin. I would use it now and in 10 years.

The dermatologists company I chose owns and created Proactive for acne, so they are WAY beyond solvent as well as award-winning members of the Direct Selling Association. They use social media and social networking much like we do for our articles to sell and promote the products, so it is a format I am very comfortable with. It is almost all done on the computer -- no products to carry or return. And it costs a small fraction of the lowest franchise fees to start my business.

If you want to know more, just ask me! I love to talk about skin care as much as I love to talk about writing now! And here are some links if you want to read more:

Earning Money Writing for Examiner.com

US Gov. image in public domain

Although I write for 10 or so different websites, the one where I earn the most money is Examiner.com. so I thought the other members of the Preferred Writer Group would want to know about it.

Back when print was king, I earned $400 - $450 per article writing for magazines, but those days appear to be over. Now I write for less than a penny per page view, but the place that penny goes the furthest for me is Examiner.

Not only does Examiner pay a higher percentage of a penny than the other sites I write for, but it attracts many viewers so I don't have to do all the work of promoting my articles.

Examiner's minimum word count requirement is only 150 words per article, so it isn't difficult to come up with ideas and articles. If you know a little basic SEO and have some social networking skills, it helps pull in readers, page views and earnings more quickly.

Earn an Easy $25

Right now Examiner is also offering a "signing bonus" of $25 if new writers contribute two articles of 150 words or more for their first two months. This helps cover the first two normally low-paying months while a writer starts to build a library of articles and begins to get the word out.

If you type my name (Kathryn Darden) or my user ID (375341) in the application, as the person who referred you, I earn whatever bonus they are doing at the time -- usually $25.

If you have not tried Examiner, you should check it out. It is not "get rich quick," but for any writer who can steadily generate articles of 150 words or more each month, it is a good way to earn several hundred dollars a month once you have a library of content up. That is definitely money I can put to good use!

Examiner is currently in the US and Canada. I am not sure what other countries it might be in now or expanding into.

PWG: It's Like Facebook But It Pays You.

What if Facebook paid you a portion of the millions they earn from your page views everyday? Would that be special? How about if they paid you 100% of their total revenue earned from page views? That sounds amazing, I agree. That's the model behind this new social networking blog platform called Preferred Writers Group (PWG) myself and a few fellow writers are developing.

Sharing and Commenting
If you enjoy posting on Facebook & Commenting on your friend's posts, you can do that here and earn real money. 150 - 200 words or slightly more than a paragraph is enough to be considered a post. In fact, this post has already met the minimum required for a post here. Submit a post and leave comments on your friend's post. It's that easy.

Watch Your Earnings Grow
The overall projected earnings is posted on every page. So you will always have a good idea of how well we are doing. At the end of the month these earnings are divided up by page views and every member gets paid based upon their total valid page views. Here is where PWG begins to differ from any other site. You get paid 100% of your total earnings in valid page views promptly on a monthly basis. As we grow the payouts will become weekly.

Back Link, Re-Post & Promote
As long as your content is yours, you can re-post here. You can back link to your other revenue sites. You can promote your product or articles located elsewhere with links directly from your posts. As writers ourselves, we can relate and are supportive of your need to earn. Rather than come down on you for even mentioning other earning sites, we hope to be resourceful to our members in every way possible. One of the most popular questions is, "Where can I earn money online?" Here you can tell them. You can share the links to those sites directly from your posts. Fullofknowledge.com & Yahoo Contributor Network. And even share the pros and cons of other sites based on your experience.

I'm No Hemingway
You don't have to be. A simple paragraph about your day, will earn you money on every valid page view. The same thing you would typically submit on a long Facebook post will earn you real money here. If you would like to learn more about PWG and get in on the ground floor of a great new earnings site Click the "How It Works" Link in the top toolbar!

PWG Offers Aggressive New Earnings Model

Post by Eveorion
Earn 100% of Your Page View Earnings
Preferred Writers Group offers writers total earnings potential, back linking, unprecedented freedom, transparency & 100% of their earnings on every valid page view.

How It Works
The Preferred Writers Group community enables our users to engage and interact with each other and earn 100% of their ad revenue from valid page views. Yes, you read that correctly. Writers earn 100% of their generated revenue from each valid page view. You will get paid your full earnings for every view, comment, and social media share toward your posts.

How Can We Do This?
Simple. Staff/Admins are writers also. To earn here we ALL have to post and earn page views alongside  our valued writers. No one is above this rule. It doesn't get any fairer than that. Join PWG & start earning your 100%!

Across The Board
No generated revenue will ever be deducted from the writers' earnings. So all additional revenue generated from other than valid pages views goes back into the community account to ensure you NEVER receive a missed/late payment. This overall earnings reserve will be clearly displayed in real time on your Earnings Tab located on the top left of every page.

Earn While Commenting
Posting is not the only way to earn here. Members can also increase their overall page views from previously submitted posts by interacting with each other. Commenting on posts increases the overall page views and thus increases your overall generated earnings when they reciprocate by leaving a comment on your posts.

No Restrictive Policies
You are free to write about anything you wish. We only ask that you follow the guidelines set by our sponsors.

- 150 word minimum per post
- Original grammatically correct content with approved images.
- Cite your sources when posting about news stories or events.
- No use of bots or IP manipulation to generate false page views
.
Remember, these tricks won't earn revenue from sponsors and thus will never earn you anything here anyway. So play fair.

Backlink To Your Other Paysites
You are welcome to link to your other revenue earning sites, posts, blogs etc. with one exception. Please do not post affiliate or referral links. It's annoying to readers and to be honest, you aren't getting paid much to do that crap anyway. Your legitimate earning ventures are always welcomed.

Building Our Community
Our Community is just starting out so it may be 30 days before you begin to see earnings if you are just getting in on the ground floor. But as we grow in numbers and generate more revenue, a working payroll account will be established to ensure each writer has funds available on a weekly basis. You will be able to see our real-time earnings via our Earnings Tab located on the top left of every page. And as our community grows, each writer's individual available earnings will increase incrementally. Your account will ALWAYS have funds available. It's up to you to earn your full potential. This ensures you will NEVER experience a late/missed payment!

Transparent Earnings Tab
You will notice at the top left of every page our Earnings Tab. This is a real time accounting of our monthly progress and available earnings per member for the month. This tab includes:
-         Our total members to date
-         Our real time monthly earnings
-         AdRate/1000 views (RPM)
-         Potential earnings each member has available. Example: ($100/10 mbrs = $10.00 available to you)
-         The rollover sum is the unclaimed earnings generated from last month.

About Rollover Earnings
All generated income must be earned from valid page views only with no exceptions. Additional revenue generated from organic traffic, etc. are carried over to the writers’ account each month to ensure we always have enough to pay our valued members!

Rollover Earnings / total members = available monthly earnings payroll
$1000 / 10 members = $100 available to each member

Analytics
You will get paid for every valid page view based on our Google Analytics Reports... Period. If it counts to our Advertisers it counts for you and you get 100% of your page view earnings. No questions asked.

Example:
Total Valid Page Views:             100,000
Average earnings/page view:      $0.008 x 100,000 = $800.00
Your Valid Page Views:              5000
Your Earnings:                          5000 x .008 = $40.00

The average Rate/1000 views fluctuates and can be (RPM)

Getting Paid
As mentioned we are a new community so payouts will begin on a monthly basis to start. Once we build up our earnings, we will move to a bi-weekly payout. Then finally payouts will be sent automatically each week. Our progress will be posted on our Earnings Tab located at the top left of every page for full transparency.
