Hey all, thanks for having me!

I'm looking for any outlet to write in. So, I am thankful for any opportunity possible. Money is nice, and I have to have it to live of course. And this new blog seems like a good idea. I am glad to join.

What I want to do more than anything though is write stories that many people enjoy. My creativity needs work and the only way is to practice and get feedback. I'll probably start posting parts of short stories I am working on.

Tell me what you guys like to write about? I see a wide variety of posts in the list so far. Other than creative stuff, I like to write a lot about sports, books, and TV shows.

I also write on

Moist Orange Cupcake/Muffin

My husband is a very picky eater. He is not into desserts, except this particular cupcake that he loves and would ask me to bake for him. Thus, I could say, is his favourite cupcakes. I had developed this recipe just few months ago. Everyone who had tasted these said they were very lovely.

Here are the ingredients:

113 grams butter (or 60 grams if you want it healthier lol)

3/4 cup granulated white sugar

1 large egg

1/2 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed

zest of 1 orange ( make it 2 oranges if you want a stonger orange flavour) finely zested

1 tablespoon sunflower oil or vegetable oil

1 3/4 cup plain flour or all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon or a pinch of salt

1. Preheat oven to 350 F

2. Line muffin tray with muffin/cupcake cases

3. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add the egg until well incorporated ( I suggest to use a mixer or even just a hand mixer but if you have neither then a hand whisk will do but you will have to vigorously mix to make it fluffy)

4. In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and baking soda and salt

5. Combine the orange zest, butter mixture and the dry ingredients by folding until just incorporated. Do not over fold as your cake will turn out too dense.

6. Fill the cases until 3/4 with the muffin batter

7. Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick or cocktail stick comes out clean when inserted in the cupcake

8. Let stand for 5 minutes before taking out from the muffin tray, then completely cool on a wire rack

You can serve this with freshly whipped cream or even orange icing or orange buttercream... and for complete indulgence, serve this with a scoop or two of ice cream.

I hope you will enjoy too.

Let's Do This Thing!

I am so glad to see everyone pulling together as a community to "make this thing happen"! Though I am not as "quick on the draw" in my writing as our dear Eden Jaid is, I intend to at least touch base with everyone as much as possible when I can...even if it is only to comment on YOUR writing.

Still, I do so miss having time to write, and will endeavor to share with you all, as you share with me! We are amassing some really interesting articles here already, and I feel if we keep it in that vein...quality writing on subjects that interest people, we will see our readership grow daily! I think we are already off to a great start. Just look at those numbers!

Thank you to everyone who has joined the new FB group as well. If you haven't joined yet, well...get yourselves over there now! Here's the link to make it easier...

Zazzle Presidents Day Sale

Zazzle is having a huge sale for Presidents Day Weekend, starting RIGHT NOW!

Everyone knows that Zazzle.com is the best place to go when it comes to putting customized photos or icons on a wide variety of items.  T-shirts, cellphone cases, backpacks, even postage stamps - you can make it all for yourself on Zazzle.

But what most people don't know is they have deals ALL the time!  And this one is a doozy!

If you shop this weekend on zazzle, use the coupon code "PRESIDENTWKD" and you'll receive 15% off your total order.  That's a pretty nice discount, and it's one I'm going to take advantage of so I can get THIS shirt:

keep calm and kill zombies tee shirts

Yeah I know, typical of me to want to get something that's:
1. Pink
2. Pre-stained
3. About Zombies
4. Telling people what to do.
5. On sale.

But listen.... I .... I don't have a comeback for that.  You're right.  I'm a cheap jerk!  But hey, if I cared about that, I wouldn't have fired my boss and walked out of my job.

If you don't like the 15% off everything, hang tight because eventually they do things like 90% off flash sales on specific items.  If you follow my blog Best of Zazzle I will be putting up information every day about deals and stuff.

Preferred Writers Group Is Here To Rule The Online Writing World

I have been writing online for over 4 years now and have written for a number of revenue sharing sites in this period. I have seen sites rising and falling and I have also seen sites which pay their writers in the beginning but don't do so later. PWG is less than a week old but has already made an impressive start. I can say from my experience that it has a great potential to become the next big thing in the online writing world. It is important that all writers work together as a team and contribute to the growth of the site. This will be beneficial for all of us in the future and we can have a genuine income source which will help us.

This is only my 2nd post here but I will try and contribute each day and pledge that everyone else do the same. It doesn't take long to write 150 words (the minimum word count required at PWG for a post) and posting daily will get you as well as the site a steady flow of views and earnings. Let’s rock!

Inside your Bubble

"I saw the image of you holding a drink... but you were smiling. That's ironic, because I read your musings on passion. I've experienced passion. I have experienced tawdry passion that will both haunt and excite me long into my twilight.  I have been driven mercilessly by the curse of passion that never lets me sleep for long. I have been soothed in fevered dream by the fleeting passion of the mere memory of her kiss.

Do you fancy yourself one of us? Are you now a writer, Sir? Because I think I'd recognize the scent. I only ask because, although writers do drink, we rarely smile when we do. Like ex-drunks, there is no such creature as an ex-writer. When the pain is too much to bear, writers drink. When the pain is excruciating... we write."

Blind Eye

When Drew Walker was 23, his parents died in a car crash, leaving him their farm. Drew was 'different', and got teased a lot. He built strange scarecrows that moved when the wind blew. One would suddenly stand up in a field, one took off its hat and scratched its head, and one made a courtly bow. There was one that danced a mad jig in a high wind, and another that waved and whistled when the breeze was right. Drew was getting letters and packages through the mail around then.

One day Drew surprised us all by announcing  he was getting married. Drew would fetch his bride and throw a wedding celebration in the spring. In May he left to collect her and was gone several weeks. Details were sketchy, but that was normal for Drew. No one knew how he found his bride and none of us got to meet her, for Drew brought her home in the dead of night and she never came out of that house afterwards. She may still be in there for all we know.

At first Drew said his bride was tired from the journey. He seemed preoccupied, and became more and more withdrawn. Eventually we rarely saw him. We gave up hopes of a wedding celebration and eventually of ever seeing his wife. Rumours flew: she was ill, deformed, mute, mad, or worse. Some said she was a store mannequin. You know how stories get out of hand if no one is watching your back.

Kids would sneak around Drew’s farm as a way to scare each other, but they never saw anything. Drew installed locks, heavy curtains, and an iron grate with a sliding cover on the door. The grate was open a crack so someone could peek out without being seen if someone knocked on the door. Not that any visitors came.

It got so we rarely saw Drew. He must have been shopping in another town. We forgot about him. Out of sight, out of mind. One day we discovered his farm had been abandoned. We never found out what happened to Drew or his wife, if there was one. I wonder if things would be different if we had made an effort with that kid.

Challenge: Write a brief story about the above image and post in comments below.
