Three Things I Intend To Do With My PWG Earnings

Coming up with a great new business model isn't very difficult especially when you know the direction everyone else is headed. Too often we find new business models are nothing more than the cookie cutter corporate model with some sprinkles on top to make it appear new and exciting. From the outside they seem to be the next big thing. But from within, you get exactly what you expected. One could say that PWG are among those like-minded individuals fed up with being fed the same old stale cookies. Our great ideas are based on what we would like to have in existing models.

The world is long overdue for a viable Facebook alternative with an intuitive self regulated review system for finding and making new friends. God forbid the users utilize Facebook to earn a few dollars without Zuck getting his cut. Barring obvious malware links, users should be able to make their earning avenues available in their posts and profiles.

Let's face the facts, writers have it damn hard in this world. If they work for a news agency or publication they are little more than mouth pieces for corporate fat-cats unable string together a compelling sentence on their own. Their voices are highly regulated. And if they wish to keep earning that $0.0001 cents per view they will write what 'big-boy corp' tells them to write! We need an across the board sea-change in journalism in general. This work is NOT easy and writers deserve every $0.0001 we earn. For the integrity of the news and information being put out into the world, no one should be allowed to earn from another writer's work. Corporate ownership of a writer's thoughts is criminal. As a PWG writer, I will write whatever I damn well please and speak my mind openly as long as I cite my sources and backup my facts. If that offends your advertisers, they can sell their baby wipes somewhere else for a penny per 10,000 page views.

“Writing is like prostitution. First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.” - Moliere. Some call me a whore and perhaps there is some truth to the accusation. But at Youtube, you can't find anything without wading through the raw sewage of spam, scams and poorly produced power-point presentations with garbage techno playing in the background. After an hour of searching Youtube for something remotely relevant I typically give up and go take a shower to wash the filth off my skin. Like writing, information presented in video format should be held to the same standards as everyone else that must ensure the integrity of their work.

So there you have it. Three things I intend to do with my earnings as a preferred writer at PWG. Feel free to take these ideas and make your own millions/billions. It may be a while before I get around to it anyway.

Thoreau was a genius. He was Harvard educated and could have been anything he wanted to be. The most likely occupations for him seemed to be that of lawyer or clergyman. He rejected both of these and instead became an Intellectual Ninja.

Thoreau wrote amazing and stunning poetry. Most of his subjects were related to nature. He was one of the foremost experts on New England ecology and botany in his day. Incidentally, ecology didn’t even really exist as a discipline in the early to mid 1800’s. Thoreau helped invent it.

Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson

Intellectual Ninja

Emily Dickinson was so ninja, almost nobody knew she was one of the world’s most amazing poets until after her death. During her lifetime only ten or eleven of her poems were published. After her death it was discovered that she had written over 1800 different poems.

She wrote in a style much different from what was common in poetry during her lifetime. She used a different rhyme scheme. She also rarely used titles and experimented with punctuation and capitalization. She was probably one of the first modern poets, even though that movement wouldn’t officially begin until well after her death. Click here to find out how Dickinson turned poetry on its head.

Philo T. Farnsworth

What were you doing when you were thirteen years old? Farnsworth was plowing his family’s farm near Rigby, Idaho inventing the framework for the television. His ideas would remain a part of every television manufactured through almost the entire 20^th century. He also, on his own, found an old burnt out motor at their new farm, took it apart, and used the pieces to convert his mother’s handmade washing machine into an electric one. He also won $25 for inventing a magnetized car lock.

Farnsworth later sketched out his ideas for a completely electronic television on the blackboard for his high school chemistry teacher. Philo T. Farnsworth wasn't afraid of anybody and went toe-to-toe with one of the most powerful media companies of his time. Click here to find out how Farnsworth defeated this giant.

Ada Lovelace

Mathematician, Coder,
Computer Visionary, and
Intellectual Ninja

Coders are all the rage these days, but Ada Lovelace would probably find them so 19th century. She was ninja enough to write an algorithm to compute a sequence of Bernoulli numbers in 1842 and 1843. That’s a solid 100 plus years before ENIAC, the world’s first electronic general purpose computer. By the way, Bernoulli numbers are a too complex to explain here so you can read about them here.

Lovelace wasn’t just some Victorian era mathematician and coder; she also completely understood the power of computers long before the rest of the world did. Follow this link to learn more about this genius and her prophetic vision for what computers would become.

Gandhi

Born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, but known to the world as Gandhi, this Intellectual Ninja maybe the most amazing of them all. Gandhi defeated the British Empire with the power of his mind. He liberated approximately 12% of the entire world’s population, without firing a shot. He won a British War Medal without being a soldier.

Gandhi was from the Merchant caste in India and was educated as a lawyer. Early in his life he work in South Africa where he fought for the civil rights of Indians living there. He formed his dedication to the cause of non-violent civil disobedience there, even though he has attacked by mobs, jailed, and beaten repeatedly. To read how Gandhi won his war medal click here.

Marie Curie

Scientist, Double Nobel Prize Winner,
Author, Medical-
Pioneer and
Intellectual Ninja

Winning a Nobel Prize is pretty ninja. Wining two Nobel Prizes makes you an elite Intellectual Ninja. Winning two Nobel Prizes in two different sciences makes you Marie Curie. Curie performed her work at a time where women were discouraged from even getting educated in most of the world, did not have to right to vote in most western democracies, and were often seen as simply an extension of the men in their lives. Curie wasn’t having any of that.

Curie’s scientific discoveries changed the course of history by opening the way for advanced medical treatments. She served as a radiologist in a war zone. Her philanthropy continues to save lives today through the two advanced medical research institutes she founded. Oh yeah, she also wrote an amazing cookbook. Roger Tomlinson

Intellectual Ninja

Have you ever used Google Maps, your cell phone, or a hand held GPS unit to find anything? If so you can thank Roger Tomlinson. He was ninja enough to invent a new field of study and discipline, Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This British genius led Canada to create the first computerized GIS system in the world.

Tomlinson got his start on changing the way the world thinks about maps when he was working for a private company in Canada with a government contract. What type of writer are you?

I have to ask, what type of writer are you?

We have a variety of writers here, some write all day long for a living and others write for enjoyment? Which one are you?

I enjoy writing for both reasons, however I would never try to tell a person that they cannot write about their daily events or what they cooked for dinner, that is not what freedom of expression is about. If a person does not like what your writing then they can go to the next post.

I do not think any REAL professional writers would be on any site making a penny per view, let's be real here folks.

On the same note you learn how to write more and more with each post that you make, follow your heart and let the pen flow you will be amazed at what will land on the paper.

I enjoy reading all of the articles on this website and the other websites I am on for writing, however the second I am told I must only write a serious post then I will leave the site, since I am not paid the worth of a professional article. a penny on any site or 3.00 for a post on any site does not make you a professional writer, you can tell yourself you are and I will respect that, however keeping it real your really not.

I have books published and I am not rich in any means. so the life of a writer is not fancy...

Please keep writing with your heart and enjoy what you post, the second you stop enjoying what you are doing there is no longer  any need to keep doing it.

Never let anyone try to kill your dreams, write and write and you will see what you blossom into.

Censorship has no place in writing forums, freedom of speech and expression needs to be respected. Not everyone is a writer, but that does not mean they cannot post what is on their mind.

Collective Creative Consciousness, Anyone?

What does three hours of "trying" to sleep equal?

I'll tell you exactly what it equals :

2 hours of "tossing, and turning , and pondering"
1 song lyric
2 vocal melodies
1 Instrumental reworking
and at least...
4 articles
(5 counting this one)!

The level of creative juices flowing is off the scale. I blame PWG! What have you people done to me? It has to be a by product of the "Collective Creative Consciousness" of this site! My brain already rarely shuts up, but this is ridiculous! Can one die from having too many thoughts running through their head continuously, and almost simultaneously?

Unfortunately, how much of all this will make it to fruition, and how much will wind up in the "article notes" file on my desktop ( with the hundred or so already there) remains to be seen! Since I still can sleep, at least some of it will. Anyone else having this, um...problem?

Earning Money Writing for Examiner.com

Although I write for 10 or so different websites, the one where I earn the most money is Examiner.com. so I thought the other members of the Preferred Writer Group would want to know about it.

Back when print was king, I earned $400 - $450 per article writing for magazines, but those days appear to be over. Now I write for less than a penny per page view, but the place that penny goes the furthest for me is Examiner.

Not only does Examiner pay a higher percentage of a penny than the other sites I write for, but it attracts many viewers so I don't have to do all the work of promoting my articles.

Examiner's minimum word count requirement is only 150 words per article, so it isn't difficult to come up with ideas and articles. If you know a little basic SEO and have some social networking skills, it helps pull in readers, page views and earnings more quickly.

Earn an Easy $25

Right now Examiner is also offering a "signing bonus" of $25 if new writers contribute two articles of 150 words or more for their first two months. This helps cover the first two normally low-paying months while a writer starts to build a library of articles and begins to get the word out. 

If you type my name (Kathryn Darden) or my user ID (375341) in the application, as the person who referred you, I earn whatever bonus they are doing at the time -- usually $25.

If you have not tried Examiner, you should check it out. It is not "get rich quick," but for any writer who can steadily generate articles of 150 words or more each month, it is a good way to earn several hundred dollars a month once you have a library of content up. That is definitely money I can put to good use!

Examiner is currently in the US and Canada. I am not sure what other countries it might be in now or expanding into.

Glad It's Over

Thank God it's all gone and over. The worst winter storm we've had here in years in Eastern N.C. is finally over. Cabin fever is starting to set in with many treading out despite the warnings to stay inside. This latest winter storm brought in about 8-10 inches of snow in my area. For some strange reason, I thought returning home to North Carolina from New York was a good way to escape this kind of weather. Boy, was I mistaken.

The weather this year has been so unpredictable. We've always been taught to dress in layers to offset this kind of weather but even that is not working for me. I'm just hoping the Ground hog was wrong and we're not going to see 6 more weeks of this. I know it's winter but this I was not expecting and I don't think anyone else around here was either.

It seems as if we're locked into some kind of a pattern with the snow, rain and sleet. For the last month or so, we've had some type of storm-related weather bi-weekly. Also it seems the storm(s) have chosen a particular day to make an appearance as well. With Tuesday being the chosen day to appear, school has been closed for most of the week.

All I can say is if this is any indication of how the summer will be, we're in for a hell of a summer.

Get Off Your Knees You're A Writer For God's Sake!

I'm supposed to be working on my duties to multiple online projects here but a fellow writer, Drew De Jesus has gotten me stirred up. I'm not sure what we will become here but it won't be a place where you see writers groveling at the feet of others. That should never happen. It's an abomination. 

If I don't agree with your stance or I dislike your post and I'm compelled to do something about it, I would express my feelings in your comments knowing full well you are getting paid for my comment. LOL! I would not presume to ban-hammer any writer for expressing themselves or trying to earn through other sources other than my site. That is wrong. I can go for a walk, take a cold shower, brood over a shot glass of bourbon while thinking about your post. But I won't silence you. That is no one's right but your own.
