A Little About Me

Hello everyone! I live in Nebraska in the U.S. I have raised 3 sons and now I'm enjoying grandchildren. The grandchildren you can spoil and then send them home!!  We don't live very close to them, but I can see their changes through pictures on their parents social networking site.
I have worked in nursing homes and worked as a Residential Manager at a group home for mentally challenged individuals. I've worked fast food, hotel work, telemarketing and even at a dry cleaners.
I'm a "stay at home mom" of a Boxweiler and am happily remarried to my first husband who use to drive truck, cowboy and work in the construction field and worked in oil rigs.
I also make extra money through the internet with writing and doing tasks.  It is so amazing to me how many different things we can do on the internet.  We can connect to people all around the world and pretty much every one of us can relate to each other!  Where are you from?

Open Your Eyes and Explore Your Mind.

There are times that our curiosity is going to kick in with different things in life. We might get scared, or we might get conscious because we don’t know what to do or we are not yet knowledgeable on something.

I find this excuse wrong; I think if there is an opportunity coming into your way, you should grab it and explore yourself first. Find out what you are going to gain or lose. But be preparing to lose. Don’t expect too much.

It is better to say “at least I try” than watch other people trying it and tell yourself “if only I try”. Regrets are always at the end, so if you know you can do something go ahead and if you know you’re capable of doing something go ahead.

Let’s enjoy our passion and let’s be thankful with all the opportunity coming into our life. Embrace it while you are having fun. It’s better to give judgment through your own observation

Candies For Sale

When I was young, I used to sell candies inside my classroom. I was only nine years old then when I started helping my mother sell some food stuff to make a living. My father was also working that time as a labourer in a manufacturing metal firm. I have a younger brother and we are studying in a private school. Yes, private school where you have to pay everything. My parents believe that if we finish our studies in a prestigious school, we will be able to have much needed education and live a better life in the future. Reason for me to also help them sell some food to be able to have my allowance and earn something for a living. If you are surrounded by classmates full of richness and popularity, you will do everything to also reached out with them and be equal…

First post of a newbie (Introducing Myself)

I decided to make my first post as a new member of Preferred Writers Group by introducing myself. Hope you don’t mind guys if I’m doing this. I’m Maria Bivina Co from the beautiful country of the Philippines. I’m 28 years old been married for 3 years but still don’t have my own child. I love kids. Specially male kiddos, I find them more bubbly than the female one
.
I’m a certified chocolate, cake, ice cream and cookie addict. My day is not complete without eating sweets. My 2 motto in life is “Family first before anything else” and “It’s better to do something than nothing”.  I love to watch zombie and horror movies. That’s why I get paranoid every time I’m alone in the house at night. I can’t sleep if the lights are off. I found many friends since I started writing in other site and looking forward to have more friends here in PWG.

I’ve started writing late last year, month of November. I’m a full time housewife for almost 2 years. I got bored so I try my luck in working as a writer. So far I can say that my writing skill is good, but I want to make it very good and in the future make it excellent. The best way that I can do to achieve this goal is to find other writing site to discover new things that can help me to improve my writing skills.

Please help me guys to familiarize everything here in PWG. Correct me if you found anything wrong in my post. I love to read your comments and advice. Thank you to Preferred Writers Group for accepting me. God bless you all =)

Its GEM Im A NEWBIE Again.

Hi to all PWG Members.

I just want to make a simple introduction of myself. Just call me Gem. I am married to a wonderful person. I’m from the Philippines that immigrate here in USA. I do like writing since I was in high school, I had diaries and I just decided to burn them after I got married.

I am just a simple person with a lot of dreams in life. Although I am not a mother yet, I always keep myself busy about anything. I am a multi -tasker and I like being productive. I hate spoiling my free time. So one of the best things that I found out is to be a writer or a blogger anywhere I go especially when I am just at home.

I don’t know where to start again as I am new to this site. I am also a writer/blogger of the other site for almost 4 months now. I didn't expect I will like to be a writer, actually part time writer only on weekdays, weekends it depends. I first saw this site and I am glad that Eve invites me when I inquire about it.

It’s been how many days now I guess since I joined, and I just got the chance now to spend time to understand what is in this site. So hopefully I gain good friends and connections here, just like any other site.

Thank You for the warm welcome.

Angela Lansbury's Two Disney Children's Movies

Angela Lansbury photo - public domain

Veteran movie actress Angela Lansbury, who has also been a star on television's "Murder She Wrote," has starred in not one but two Disney children's classics. Can you name them both? If not, read on!

In 1971, Lansbury starred in her first  Disney film as Miss Eglantine Price in "Bedknobs and Broomsticks." This film established the actress among the ranks of Disney power divas like  Julie Andrews. ("Bedknobs and Broomsticks" is often compared to Mary Poppins).

Two decades later in 1991, Lansbury landed her second Disney role, this time as the beloved Mrs. Potts from Disney's  classic animated movie, "Beauty and the Beast" and its sequels. This may be one of Lansbury's most loved roles and has secured her a place in the hearts of children and parents for decades to come.

If you have seen Angela Lansbury in one of these films or any of her other work, let us know what you saw and what you thought in the comments below!

Many Benefits Of Green Tea

Green tea has been popular in China and other Asian countries and the people of China have been drinking green tea for thousands of years for its medicinal purposes. This tea has been shown to provide many therapeutic benefits.
Unlike Black tea, which is fermented, green tea is steamed and dry roasted. The dried leaves are not allowed to ferment and research has discovered that process possibly is why green tea preserves the cancer preventative ingredient in the tea. The least amount of processing gives the tea its green color and gives it a flowery flavor along with maintaining the active ingredients that produce the green tea’s benefits. Green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant and the leaves in green tea contain essential oils, polyphenols, caffeine, minerals, vitamins, and fluoride.

This growing research on green tea has shown that drinking the tea for a long period of time has a preventive effect on cancer in the digestive tract, stomach, and colon.
Caffeine is an active ingredient in green tea and although it has its many benefits it does have a high level of caffeine. Depending on the length of time it brews a 6 oz. cup can have as much as 10-50 mg of caffeine. This stimulant helps improve concentration and it also raises alertness. However it also increases the heart rate and can keep you up at night and can cause irritability and stomach upset.
Green tea’s medicinal benefits are numerous. Green tea can prevent tooth decay; the fluoride in the tea hardens the tooth enamel and makes them more resistant to decay. The tea helps with high blood pressure, and several forms of cancer. The polyphenols, a natural chemical in plants that prevent cellular damage, inhibit the growth of cancer cells and any development of tumors. This tea also kills bacteria, lowers Cholesterol, and helps combat the influenza virus.

During menopause drinking green tea will provide women with the extra nutrients that are needed drinking it on a daily basis.
Green tea is known to melt fat for dieters. Its cholesterol lowering effect has no calories and is considered as a supplement when drank daily.
The most common types of Green tea are:
Sencha. It is widely used in Japan and the most common tea available.
Bancha: Contains a low amount of caffeine and the tea is similar to Sencha but has a bitter taste...
In India: Green Darjeeling tea is gentle on the body and is grown in the Himalaya Mountains.
China: Gunpowder tea, the leaves are rolled tight and look like gunshot pellets. They unfurl when placed in water.
Jasmine Tea: a flowery tea which is actually made from jasmine flowers, some varieties are combinations of Black and green teas.
Green tea has a bitter flavor that coffee drinkers will enjoy and the caffeine content which is less than coffee will help keep the caffeine withdrawal headaches away.
Green tea has become so popular that many flavors have been added to the leaves to give it a fruity taste.

War is an ugly thing.

The country of Venezuela is the latest country to fall victim of the ugliness of war. Earlier today I posted a poem on Bubblews in memory of a good friend who went to visit family there and got caught in the middle of the events that have taken place in that country for the past few days. She and her baby are missing since Sunday and we can only hope and pray that where-ever she might be she is safe and sound. We don't want to give up hope because that is all we have left to cling on to asides from the memories of time spent with her. The injustice of war takes over another country yet again.

War is a very ugly thing, yet more and more the world is turning to war to solve their political and social problems without realizing the many innocent lives they are ending with their actions.

I know I haven’t been much active here lately; I’m slowly starting to do so, for I am handling too many personal things at the moment. But if you are interested on reading the poem, you can find it here

(If Bubblews is not down and if the link posted here properly works)

Enjoy!
